"China’s car industry is quietly pressing Beijing for government help as it copes with a jarring slowdown, top Chinese auto executives said in interviews here on Tuesday."

One distinct advantage enjoyed by the more or less centrally controlled Chinese system over the American model: poor performance doesn't just "Roman candle" an executive's Golden Parachute. It gets him shot! (I.e., report that the poor schmuck in charge of quality control over some killer Chinese export was shot.)

Anyway, if the not-so-big three American auto executives fail to convince Congress, next stop Beijing? I hear the receiver for US Airways (bankruptcy specialists) is offering ultra-cheap fares for tourist class, and China has lots and lots of money.

(Note the blurb on the wall behind the Panda girl (young girl probably chosen by Iron Worker in a Thai-China addy consulting capacity). As anyone who wrestles with instuction booklets supplied with Asian products knows, native English writers should come at a premium. In this case, the writer's syntax indicates a background in American street patois :-)
