"No offense..."...? Are you feeling well today? LOL!

First of all, following what "most everyone thinks" is not necessarily a prescription for success. History is full of "most everyone" being wrong time and again about things we take for granted now.

In this case, sure, there will be losers. There are losers anytime big change comes, because they have vested interests in things being the way they are. And those people typically do all they can to sway opinion their way. You think a significant portion of what "most everyone thinks" wasn't bought and paid for by the existing vested interests?

Second, when you say "most everyone thinks"...do you have some credible source to back that assertion up? Or is it simply most everyone you know.

Third, I'm not sure Kyoto was the best thing, either, and us not signing wasn't such a bad thing, in my view.

But the rest of the world is keen to to green. The U.S. has the most innovative intellectual and industrial base on the planet. By taking the lead, the U.S. could conceivably be the font of all (or most of) the technologies and processes that dominate the industry.

It's going to happen. The only real question in my mind is do we take the lead and eventually benefit from it financially and economically, or do we fight it kicking and screaming and let that lead develop overseas.
