Oh yes - the private sector will, "like it always has" (NOT!) take the lead and make good things happen, at least according to you.

How about rail and road networks, or making rivers & inland waterways navigable? How about the electrical grid? How about aviation, nuclear power, too many medical advances to count, computers, lasers, and the internet? Other than stuff like that, I can't think of a f#cking thing that GOVERNMENT got going because private business wasn't about to take the risk.

ALL of them came about due to government doing the heavy lifting and providing the big start-up money and guidance. Over time, private entities were more than willing to stand on the shoulders of those (including the taxpayers) who built the foundation, and sometimes even the freaking building and only THEN step into the game.

It's the old story of worship of the private sector when it comes to profits, but LOVING "socialism" (as in govt. spending) when it comes to costs.
