If Romney accomplished nothing else during his Israeli visit, he did manage to offend every single Palestinian Arab terrorist group...

Yes he did, but surely non-terrorist Arabs took his remarks in stride and silently agreed with him, right?

But then why does the IMF put Israel’s GDP Per Capita well ahead of the oil-rich kingdom of Saudi Arabia?

Turn to page 25 (early because it's easy) in Introductory Economics. Untapped natural resources don't count toward GDP. For it to count, oil has to be sucked up and sold. In any given year, if the Saudi sheiks and royals have pumped enough crude to fuel their fleets of yachts and pay for tuition (and Ferraris) for their scores of "princes" rattling around in European universities, why keep pumping and selling?

(I.e., "oil rich" means nothing in GDP terms unless it's exploited. Capisce?)

Christians in the territories have traditionally made the best businessmen...

Really? I didn't know that. (Do you? Or is it just one of those "everybody knows" things?)

...and the capital(?) of the Palestinian Authority was actually started by Jordanian Christian refugees escaping Muslim persecution.

Boy oh boy, the things you learn on the Internet. Thanks! But... a little research shows that there's a "rrrest of the story". It seems that Ramallah was founded by a family of Christian Arabs who fled there because of a Hatfield-McCoy feud with a Muslim Arab family over a proposed marriage gone bad.

Living descendants of original Haddadin (Christian) family members tell the story that their ancestor reneged on a marriage deal with a Muslim poo-bah, and it was all downhill from there. (The Haddadins were poo-bahs too, but apparently came up short in the manpower department, or maybe weren't quite as good as the Kaysooms with scimitars.)

This bit of clan warfare, by the way, occurred in the 16th century.
