She is one of the original "$1000-an-hour girls" and has experienced a softening in society's attitude towards her profession. Entering the business via a career in modelling, she tasted the callgirl life and devoured it. "It's not just the money, it's the whole lifestyle," she says when asked about her love for the job. "It opens doors into places we wouldn't be able to access, regardless of whether you are an attractive woman or not. I've been to some amazing houses and fantastic restaurants. It is a really privileged lifestyle. "People don't judge it like they used to do. It has been taken to another level."

Rinaldi lists politicians, actors and sports stars on her resume of satisfied clients. "It really is Mandy RiceDavies, Christine Keeler stuff," she says with genuine delight. "You never know who is behind the door until they open it. "We get a lot of sports stars, but I don't normally recognise them because I don't follow sport. I had one client who had a lot of scars and bruises all over his body. "He told me he was a painter and decorator. When I asked him about the bruises he said 'I fall down a lot.' It wasn't until later I discovered he was a famous footballer." Then there was the time she was summoned to a harbourside hotel suite for a rendevous with an international soccer superstar. "He had money all over the place, wads and wads of cash just lying there. I don't know whether it was done to showoff or not."

Heidi was on call to the stars

She was one of six children, a highschool dropout and a waitress. But she became the most celebrated pimp of her time. Known worldwide as the "Hollywood madam", Heidi Fleiss exploded into entertainment industry folklore in the mid1990s. If a star, rock singer, producer or agent desired the services of Los Angeles' classiest call girls, there was only one woman to contact. Fleiss, now 36, launched her prostitution ring in 1990. Her list of wealthy clientele was a who's who of Hollywood bad boys. When she was charged with five counts of pandering in 1993, it sent the media into a frenzy, with expectations that her client list -- said to have been contained in a little black book -- would be revealed. Actor Charlie Sheen proved the biggest name to be "outed" by the scandal, giving evidence at Fleiss's trial that he had paid more than $US50,000 ($98,500 AUD) for her services. Fleiss was convicted of three counts, receiving a threeyear prison term. A 1996 appeal saw her convictions overturned following evidence of juror tampering. But it was not the end of her legal woes. Fleiss was charged in a federal court and convicted of taxevasion and moneylaundering, for which she was again sent to jail. She is now free and in the fashion business. The name of highclass Sydney escort agency Miss Fleiss was derived at a time when the madam's exploits were big news but she is not involved with the business.
